Newbury, one of Britain's most prominent racecourses, has announced plans for a 15-furlong all-weather (dirt) course with five and six-furlong straight races and a chute for contests over seven furlongs and a mile.
It is thought the track would be ideal for prep races for the Breeders' Cup and Dubai World Cup meetings.
However, because of doubts over how many fixtures will be granted by the British Horseracing Board, Newbury has yet to decide when the £4.5 million project will be started.
