Fortunate Prospect, a 24-year-old son of Northern Prospect, has been retired from the breeding shed and pensioned at Farnsworth Farms near Ocala, Fla. "The years have caught up with him," said Michael Sherman of Farnsworth, where the syndicated stallion stood for two decades.

Fortunate Prospect has sired 28 stakes winners and the earners of almost $37 million. A graded stakes-winning sprinter, Fortunate Prospect was the nation's leader by number of 2-year-old winners in 1991, '93, and '96, with 20 or more each year. His career top money-earner, multiple graded winner Suave Prospect, who earned $730,532, stands at Farnsworth.

Fortunate Prospect, who was produced from the Lucky Debonair mare Fortunate Bid, was scheduled to stand for a private fee.
