Phone Trick Colt Moves to Top of OBS Sale

New York-based trainer Steve Klesaris went to $550,000 to acquire a son of Phone Trick
to highlight the Feb. 8 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. selected 2-year-olds in training sale at Calder Race Course.
Klesaris, as agent, purchased the colt for long-time client Jeffrey Puglisi from the consignment of Ricky Leppala, agent for Jimmy and Martha Gladwell. The colt worked the co-fastest quarter mile in :21 2/5 Jan. 31.
The colt was bred in New York by Barry Ostrager and Steven Mukamel and was originally purchased for $50,000 by Triple J from the consignment of Thomas J. Gallo Sales Agency, agent, at the 2004 Keeneland January mixed sale.
Produced from the stakes-placed Meadowlake
mare Lark Creek, the chestnut colt is from the family of stakes winners Midnight Cry.
Earlier in the day, Klesaris went to $300,000 to acquire a son of champion sprinter Artax
for Puglisi from the consignment of W.D. North. The colt worked a quarter Jan. 31 in :21 2/5.
North originally purchased the colt for $62,000 at the 2004 Keeneland September yearling sale from the consignment of Blackburn Farm, agent.
Longleaf Pine Farm bred the colt in Kentucky from the Dayjur
mare Bonnie Byerly, who was produced from the grade I winning Roberto mare Plenty of Grace and is from the family of champion Soaring Softly and stakes winners Wings of Grace, Bound By Honor, and Private Joe.
John Oxley went to $300,000 to acquire a son of the late stallion Old Trieste. The colt worked a quarter in :22 2/5 Jan. 31.
Produced from the stakes-placed Montbrook
mare Rose Bay, the colt was consigned by his breeder, J. Michael O' Farrell's Ocala Stud Farm and is from the family of stakes winners Sweet Sixteen and Watchful and stakes-placed Herminoe's Magic.
Trainer Todd Pletcher purchased a daughter of More Than Ready
for $270,000 to top all fillies at the mid-point. Niall Brennan Stables, agent, consigned the filly to the sale.
Bred in Kentucky by Nordic Thoroughbreds, the filly was originally purchased for $75,000 by Haras Luisiana from the consignment of Warrendale Sales, agent, at the 2003 Keeneland November mixed sale.
The filly was produced from the Pine Bluff
mare Guilty Pleasure and is from the family of stakes winner Exquisite Mistress and Go Scotty.
