Beulah Park Sets Weekly Wagering Record

With the 2005 season only a month old, Beulah Park in Grove City, Ohio, is reporting a blistering start to the meet with large increases on its live racing.

The all time five-day weekly wagering record for Beulah Park live racing was set the week of Jan. 28 to February 2. A total of $7,446,076 was wagered for the five-day period, a daily average of $1,493,615.

"We are very happy with Beulah Park's live racing business trends," said Mike Weiss, Beulah Park vice president and general manager. "We have worked very hard on presenting competive, full field programs for horseplayers to wager on. The numbers reflect the product is being well received."

In addition to the new all time weekly mark, Beulah Park reports a 37.3% increase on the its live product since opening its winter stand Jan. 6.

Through the first 16 days of the meet, the average Beulah Park live pari-mutuel handle is $1,375,302. That compares to $1,001,468 for the same dates a year ago.

The biggest day of the year so far was Jan. 31, when $2,204,396 was poured through the mutuel machines.

Racing continues through May 7.
