Record Miler Najran's First Foal

The first reported foal sired by American record-equaler Najran is a filly out of the Spend a Buck mare Changing Fortunes. Bred by Hopewell Investments, she was foaled Jan. 19.

Najran (Runaway Groom--Line Command, by Capote) equaled the American record for a mile in winning the Westchester Handicap (gr. III) in 1:32.24 at Belmont Park. He stands at Rick Trontz' Hopewell Farm near Midway, Ky., where his 2005 fee is $7,500.
