Single Magna 5 Ticket Nets $406,985

The Magna 5, a $2 pick five wager linking races from four racetracks in an hour, kicked off its second year by paying $406,985.80 to one winner Saturday. The winning ticket was purchased at Hollywood Park.
A total of $521,776.80 was in the pool.
The Magna 5 includes races from Gulfstream, Santa Anita, and Laurel Park and Golden Gate Fields, with a guaranteed $500,000 pool every Saturday afternoon. Last year during a 12 week period, the pick-five wager drew an average pool of $545,275, with 1,091 winning tickets paying a total of $427,227.40.
This week, Silmaril ($3.60) was the popular winner of the Nellie Morse Stakes at Laurel Park. Valentine Dancer ($19) proved to be a heartbreaker in taking Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf from Gulfstream Park. Sweet Lips ($27.60) rallied up the rail to win the Sunshine Millions Distaff at Santa Anita. Time To Be On Top ($9.80) wired the field in a maiden sprint at Golden Gate Fields. And Musique Toujours ($142.20) shocked the racing world in the $1 million Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park.
