2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper
(from Palm Meadows notes)Horse of the Year Ghostzapper breezed an easy half-mile at Palm Meadows Friday morning in :49 3/5 in his first workout since an authorative win in the Breeders' Cup Classic - powered by Dodge (gr. I) Oct. 30.
"He seemed like he went all right," said Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel, on hand for the move. "We'll probably start breezing him about once a week now."
Frankel is reportedly considering the Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II) on April 9 or the May 30 Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) at Belmont Park for the Stronach Stables stalwart. He indicated Thursday that an appearance at Gulfstream was not likely for Ghostzapper's first outing of the season.
The 5-year-old son of 1998 Breeders' Cup Classic winner
Awesome Again has not started since his Classic victory at Lone Star Park last fall.
He has won eight of ten career starts and earned $2,996,120.
