Belmont Winner Commendable Sold to Korean Outfit

Commendable, winner of the 2000 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) for Robert and Beverly Lewis, has been sold to the South Korean Racing Association for stallion duty. since entering stud in 2001, 8-year-old Commendable stood at Mill Ridge Farm, owned by Alice Chandler and her husband, Dr. John Chandler, near Lexington, Ky.

Commendable was represented by seven 2-year-old winners of 2004 from his first crop to race and one of them, Seungyu Sinhwa, was a two-time winner in Korea. Commendable ended the year 46th on the freshman sire list by progeny earnings.

A son of Mill Ridge stallion Gone West out of the In Reality mare Bought Twice, Commendable won the 2000 Belmont and placed in that year's Travers Stakes (gr. I) and Super Derby (gr. I). He earned a career total of $907,470.

Commendable is scheduled to be shipped Jan. 27, according to Richard Cross of Narvick International, which brokered the deal.
