African-American jockey Jimmy Winkfield, who won back-to-back runnings of the Kentucky Derby at the turn of the 20th century, is the subject of a feature on the CBS "Evening News" that will air Jan. 17.

The televised feature by correspondent Troy Roberts, which was filmed at Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racecourse in New York, will be broadcast on the program between 6:30-7 p.m. (ET). The program, airing on Martin Luther King Day, coincides with the first running of the Jimmy Winkfield Stakes, a $75,000 race for 3-year-olds at Aqueduct that was previously run as the Best Turn Stakes.

In promoting the feature, the CBS News Web site notes, "We profile horseracing legend Jimmy Winkfield, who's about to get the respect he always deserved -- and you'll be at the track to see it."
