Former Dallas Cowboys and NTRA executive Joe Bailey was named CEO of the Miami Dolphins Thursday.
Joe Bailey, former deputy commissioner and chief operating officer of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, has joined Dolphins Enterprises, a sports and entertainment company formed by Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga.
Bailey, who will have the title of CEO, joins the Dolphins from Russell Reynolds Associates, a leading executive search firm. His background also includes 19 years as an executive with the Dallas Cowboys.
"It is a privilege to join such first-class entities as the Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium, and to help set the course that will lead the entire enterprise into the future," Bailey said.
Bailey will report directly to Huizenga and will be in charge of all Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium operations, management, development, marketing and merchandising.
"The Dolphins have gained access to one of the best business minds in sports and entertainment," said Tim Smith, former commissioner of the NTRA. "Joe Bailey is a very uncommon mixture of expertise, judgment, people skills and intelligence. I cannot think of a single individual with more credibility in the field as judged by his peers."
