Grade I Winner Sky Mesa's First Foal

Robert N. Clay's Three Chimneys Farm announced the arrival of Sky Mesa  's first foal, a bay colt out of Star of Africa, by Polish Precedent, born Jan. 5 at Darby Dan Farm near Lexington.

Star of Africa is a half-sister to four stakes winners, including group winner Danefair, the dam of group winner Trade Fair. The colt's third dam is group I winner Cairn Rouge.

Darby Dan manager Wayne Sweezey described the youngster as "a nice colt. He is well balanced, his knees are correct, and he's a pretty foal."

Sky Mesa, by Pulpit   out of the Storm Cat mare Caress, scored his big win in the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) and earned a career total of $633,076. He stands at Three Chimneys near Midway, Ky., for a fee of $30,000.
