(from Maryland Jockey Club report)
The Maryland Jockey Club signal will appear on local Comcast systems beginning Jan. 14 as part of a digital sports package involving HorseRacing TV.

HRTV will launch in Baltimore County on Jan. 14 and the next day will be available in the city of Baltimore, Montgomery County and the Dover (DE)/lower Eastern Shore area. On Jan. 22, HRTV will be available in Prince George's County.

HRTV features television coverage of 14 racetracks owned, operated, or managed by Magna Entertainment Corp., including Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park. The network also telecasts live coverage from more than 60 other racetracks in North America.

"We're pleased that Comcast has recognized the value our product brings to its programming lineup," said Jim Gagliano, executive vice president of Maryland Racing Operations. "In addition we are delighted that racing fans from major metropolitan areas like Baltimore and Washington will be able to enjoy some of the most prestigious names in horse racing including Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park, which are currently conducting the nation's best racing."

Wagering, where not expressly prohibited by law, may be conducted via the phone or Internet through XpressBet, Magna's national account wagering system.

"This is part of the big picture," said Gagliano. "HRTV complements our live racing experience and is designed to develop new fans."
