Stakes Winner Royal Lad to Heritage in Louisiana

Royal Lad, a four-time stakes winner, will enter stud at Holly Wise's Heritage Stud near Folsom, La. A 5-year-old son of
Montbrook , Royal Lad won four stakes as a 3-year-old in 2002, including the $250,000 Carry Back Stakes at Calder Race Course. His three stakes-placings included efforts in the Hutcheson Stakes (gr. II) and a division of the Florida Stallion Dr. Fager Stakes.
Royal Lad was retired with seven wins from 23 starts and earnings of $377,624. His dam, Velvet Choaker (by On to Glory), is a half-sister to stakes winner Kings Command (by Montbrook). Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner
Louis Quatorze is under Royal Lad's third dam.
