Favored Yearly Report Out of La Brea Due to Minor Injury

Yearly Report, the 6-5 morning line favorite for Monday's $250,000 La Brea Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita, was scratched due to a minor ankle injury, trainer Bob Baffert reported Monday morning.

"She had a deal on her (left front) ankle yesterday morning," Baffert said. "It was a little warm on the outside. I didn't like the way it looked. It's OK today, but yesterday it didn't look good so I didn't take any chances. The Mabees (Betty Mabee of Golden Eagle Farm, which owns the 3-year-old California-bred daughter of General Meeting) are good about not running horses like that. I didn't like the way it looked."

"It probably will cost her a few days. She's done this before. She either hit it or wrenched it or did something."

East Coast-based Jerry Bailey, who was listed to ride Yearly Report in quest of her first grade I victory, did not make the trip. "I called Jerry yesterday to let him know," Baffert said.

Baffert said Yearly Report could run in the Sunshine Millions Distaff on Jan. 29 at Gulfstream Park.

In her most recent outing, Yearly Report won the Stonerside Stakes at Lone Star Park on Oct. 29 by 9 1/4 lengths in track record time of 1:20.67 for seven furlongs, her fourth stakes win of the year.

Yearly Report's previous stakes wins in 2004 were all in grade II events, including the Santa Ynez at seven furlongs at Santa Anita in January. The others came in the Black Eyed Susan at Pimlico and the Delaware Oaks.
