Black Tie Affair, 1991 Horse of the Year, has been relocated to O'Sullivan Farms near Charles Town, W.Va., where he will stand for $7,500 live foal. Black Tie Affair, who stood for a time in Japan, held court last breeding season at Blue Ridge Farm near Upperville, Va.An 18-year-old son of recently deceased Miswaki, Black Tie Affair has sired 34 stakes winners and the earners of $49 million. Four of his runners are millionaires: grade I winners Formal Gold and Evening Attire, plus License Fee and Washington Color (in Japan).Black Tie Affair, who was produced from the Al Hattab mare Hat Tab Girl, won the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) the year he was Horse of the Year and champion older male. He entered stud in 1992 at Vinery near Midway, Ky., with a record of 18 wins from 45 starts and earnings of $3,370,694.
