California Stallion Chullo's First Winner

Chullo, Horse of the Year in his native Argentina, was represented by his first winner when his son Chullo Uno won Dec. 20 at Golden Gate Fields. Bred by Applebite Farms, the colt won at six furlongs in 1:11.35 for Rancho Nueva Vida in his first start.

Chullo, a four-time champion, is by Equalize out of the Cipayo mare Que Ilusion, an Argentine Broodmare of the Year. Ten-year-old Chullo, who was graded stakes-placed at Santa Anita, stands at Applebite near French Camp, Calif. His 2005 fee is $3,000.
