Mother Nature continues to impact American racing, with Turfway Park canceling its Wednesday night card. Rather than snow and cold temperatures that usually cause a cancellation, this time the culprit was warmer temperatures that caused thawing and uneven areas in the mostly frozen track, Turfway officials said.
The cancellation marked the 11th time this season racing at Turfway Park was abandoned because of the weather. Racing was to resume Thursday night.
Seven Thoroughbred tracks called off their cards Sunday because of the second major snowstorm to hit the Northeast this season.
Racing was closed at Aqueduct, Turfway Park, Laurel, Philadelphia Park, Suffolk Downs, Mountaineer, and Charles Town.
Philadelphia Park also scratched its card for Monday.
