David Works Toward Gold Cup

David worked five furlongs at Hollywood Park Sunday preparing for an expected start in the Sempra Energy Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I). The New York-bred completed the distance in :59 4/5, handily, over a fast track.

Golden Eagle Farm's General Challenge worked seven furlongs in 1:23 4/5, handily, Saturday morning at Santa Anita. The work was the fastest of four at the distance Saturday. Fellow Gold Cup probable Early Pioneer put in a five-furlong drill at Hollywood Park Saturday. The 5-year-old son of Rahy covered the distance in 1:00 3/5, handily, over a fast track.

Others expected for the 1 1/4-mile race with a purse of $1-million include Cat Thief, K One King, Out of Mind, Big Ten, and Chester House.
