Black Bart, vanned off the Hollywood Park track with a hock injury after taking a bad step in the stretch run of Saturday's Native Diver Handicap (gr. III), was euthanized.

The 5-year-old California-bred gelding by Stage Colony, in close contention behind eventual winner Truly a Judge for most of the 1 1/8-mile event, was pulled up by jockey Sandy Gann in mid-stretch.

Trained by Troy Bainum for owner Thomas F. Metzger Sr., Black Bart won six of 12 starts in 2004 prior to the Native Diver. His overall record was 9-4-3 in 34 tries with earnings of $346,080.
