Prospector's Music, who sired grade I winner Gygistar and ranks fourth on this year's Oklahoma stallion list, died Dec. 10 from a ruptured cecum. The 15-year-old son of Mr. Prospector stood for a partnership at Oklahoma Equine near Washington, Okla.

Prospector's Music is represented by a dozen runners that have won or placed in stakes. His leading earner, Gygistar, with $842,605 in earnings, has captured four graded stakes, including this year's Westchester Handicap (gr. III). His big win came in the 2002 King's Bishop Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga.

Prospector's Music, who was produced from The Minstrel mare Minstrella, has progeny earnings of some $950,000 this year and $7.4 million lifetime.
