Cappuchino to Empire in New York

Graded stakes winner Cappuchino, who topped the half-million mark in earnings, will enter stud for a syndicate for a fee of $3,500 at James LaMonica and Kurt Butenhoff's Empire Stud near Hudson, N.Y.

A 5-year-old son of Capote, Cappuchino was a stakes winner all four years he raced. His six added-money wins included scores in the Ack Ack Handicap (gr. III) at Churchill Downs and the Turfway Park Fall Championship Stakes (gr. III). Second or third in seven stakes, he retired with eight wins from 32 starts and earnings of $509,220 for owners Jerry Hollendorfer, Howard Litt, and George Todaro.

Cappuchino, who was trained by Hollendorfer, is a half-brother to grade I winner Serra Lake. His dam, grade II winner Tara Roma, is by Lyphard, and his next two dams, Chic Shirine and Too Chic, are grade I winners.
