Management Changes Announced at Woodbine

John Whitson, vice president of Thoroughbred racing for Woodbine, where he has worked for 31 years, will retire at the end of the year. Whitson will remain a consultant for Woodbine Entertainment Group on its stakes program.
Chris Evans will replace Whitson and be in charge of the racing office, backstretch operations, and race day functions.
Tom Cosgrove has been promoted to director of Thoroughbred racing. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the racing office, the condition book, and the enforcement of all pertinent race office policies.
Other announced changes are: Stephen Koch will be the director of backstretch operations; Martin Velden, manager of backstretch operations; Karl Lagerborg, superintendent of stabling; and Sheryl McSwain, assistant racing secretary.
