Sent off at 7-1 odds, Rokeby Stable homebred Timeless Moment staged a late rally to post an upset over 7-10 favorite Forego in the Nassau County Handicap at Aqueduct on June 26, 1974. The winner, in receipt of 20 pounds from the 134-pound topweight Forego, raced the seven furlongs in 1:21 1/5, one second slower than the track standard. Forego, Lazy F Ranch's homebred gelding, won eight of 13 starts that season to be voted Horse of the Year and champion handicap horse. With two victories from three starts at seven furlongs, including a win in the Vosburgh Handicap, Forego was also voted champion sprinter.
