Canadian Champion Ginger Gold Retired; Booked to Pulpit

Canadian champion and classic winner Ginger Gold, who ran second in the Nov. 6 River Memories Stakes at Woodbine in what turned out to be her last start, has been retired from racing. The 5-year-old daughter of Golden Gear topped the $1-million mark in earnings when winning the Ernie Samuel Memorial Stakes by 13 lengths at Fort Erie in the summer.

Ginger Gold won seven of 25 races and earned $1,065,448 as a homebred for Mel Lawson's Jim Dandy Stable. Trained by Sid Attard, she earned a Sovereign Award as top 2-year-old filly and was a classic winner at three, taking the Labatt Woodbine Oaks. Overall, she won or placed in 13 stakes.

Ginger Gold, whose dam, Gleaming Glory (by Vigors), is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Take Note of Me, will reside at Dr. Robert Copelan and Jeff Thornbury's Sunnyside Farm near Paris, Ky. She is booked to Pulpit.
