Edited release from KEEPThe Kentucky Equine Education Project has announced that seasons in more than 150 stallions have been donated to Friday's auction to raise funds.
The event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington, Ky., begins at 7 p.m. with the live auction starting at 8:15 p.m. Silent auction bids end at 10:30 p.m. Bid-by-phone will be available, but buyers must pre-register.
The event will include a live auction of about 40 stallions, with a silent auction for remaining stallions. In addition, seasons in other horses will be made available for private sale at later dates, with proceeds also going to KEEP.
"I knew the horse industry was behind what KEEP is trying to do, but to see the outpouring of stallion seasons donated really puts the importance of our mission in perspective," said former Gov. Brereton Jones, KEEP co-founder and auction organizer. "Everyone wants the entire horse industry to come together with one voice to make sure Kentucky remains the horse capital of the world."
