AmericaTab followed the success of its first Players' Pool on the Breeders' Cup Ultra Pick 6 with its second hit in a month. Bettors had one winning pick six ticket and 28 consolation tickets Nov. 28 at Hollywood Park.
The pool on the Hollywood Park pick six paid a gross $132,024.80. After taxes, $107,597.80 was distributed to players in the pool. With $61,560 contributed by bettors in the Players' Pool, each person will receive at least $1.74 per dollar put into the pool.
AmericaTab account-holders could contribute as little as $10 to the pool. Handicappers selected by AmericaTab fashioned the pick six tickets.
The team was led by Brad Anderson, a Thoroughbred owner and businessman from Columbus, Ohio, who is known in racing for hitting pick sixes; Rich Nilsen of Brisnet.com, who was a four-time qualifier in national handicapping contests; and Ron Ruchtie of Youngstown, Ohio, who also has cashed pick sixes.
The total Hollywood payout was based on one pick six ticket worth $97,708, and 28 consolation tickets that each paid $1,225.60.
On Breeders' Cup day, the Players' Pool had five winning pick six tickets worth a total of $280,748.
"Following the results of our first two Players' Pools, we will be looking at other opportunities to introduce a Players' Pool," said Mike Weiss, executive vice president of AmericaTab and general manager of Beulah Park in Ohio. "As our customers become more comfortable with the concept, we may promote the Players' Pool quickly with very large carryovers."
The total pool represented 826 AmericaTab customers with an average $75 contribution in the pool. This was a significant increase over the first pool, which had 681 contributors with an average of $65.
