Due to increased entries for its Kentucky February mixed sale,
Fasig-Tipton has scheduled an extra day and will now hold the auction on Sunday, Feb. 11th and Monday, Feb. 12th, beginning at 10 a.m. Catalogues for the two-day sale will be mailed and available from all Fasig-Tipton offices Jan. 25. ...Golden Gate Fields closed out its 2000 season by honoring its top performers.
Wet 'n Wild was voted Horse of 2000. Other winners were:
Ladies Din, best older horse;
La Feminn , best older filly or mare;
Deploy Venture, best grass horse;
Mr. Doubledown, best sprinter;
New Advantage, best 3-year-old colt/gelding and best 3-year-old;
Kentucky Storm, best 3-year-old filly;
I'madrifter, best 2-year-old colt/gelding and best 2-year-old;
Dawaytogold, best 2-year-old filly;
Scanner, best claiming horse;
Russell Baze, best jockey;
Jerry Hollendorfer, best trainer; and
The Golden Gate Handicap best race of the year....
T. M. Opera O was named the Japan Racing Association's horse of the year for 2000. Also receiving honors were
,Wing Arrow, best dirt horse;
Gokai, best steeplechase horse;
Mejiro Bailey, best 3-year-old colt; and
Yutaka Take, best jockey.
