Russell Baze rode four winners at Golden Gate Fields Thursday and moved ahead of Pat Day into third place on the all-time win list.
The 46-year-old Baze increased his total to 8,772 victories, one ahead of Day, who rode one winner at Churchill Downs Thursday and has 8,771.
Laffit Pincay Jr., who retired in 2003, tops the all-time list at 9,530 victories while Bill Shoemaker, who quit riding in 1990, is second with 8,833.
"It feels good," said Baze, who was inducted into racing's Hall of Fame in 1999. "I'm definitely keeping some good company. It's great to be able to keep healthy and have so many good years back-to-back. My agent (Ray Harris) puts me on some pretty good horses. Just about all of them have run well of late, even when they didn't win."
Baze rode 2-year-old colt Danny Dingle to a 7-length victory in the featured $39,600 event at Golden Gate Thursday.
