Air de France, a son of the great French mare Allez France (by Sea-Bird II), was euthanized at Tobermory Stud in Australia. The 20-year-old stallion fractured a leg while covering a mare.Plenty was expected of Air de France because of his parentage. He not only was out of Allez France, but his sire was the great Seattle Slew. A Kentucky-bred who raced as a homebred for the late French owner Daniel Wildenstein, Air de France raced just twice, winning his debut in France, then finishing unplaced in the Dubai Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-I, the French Two Thousand Guineas) a month later. As a stallion, Air de France sired 10 stakes winners, including Australian group I winners Air Seattle and Bomber Bill.
