Generous, an English, Irish, and French champion, has been acquired by Alfred Buller of Scarvagh House Stud for stallion duty at Scarvagh at Sandley near Dorset, England. Generous has been shuttling between Plantation Stud near Newmarket, England, and Glenmorgan Farm in New Zealand.
A 16-year-old son of Caerleon, Generous has sired 33 stakes winners, including German champion Catella and Irish champion Lisieux Rose, who was a two-time grade II turf winner in the U.S. Another of his European group winners, Blueprint, also was a two-time grade II turf winner in the U.S.
Campaigned by the late Prince Fahd Salman, Generous won three of Europe's greatest races: the Ever Ready Epsom Derby (Eng-I), Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I), and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I). He was Ireland's Horse of the Year that 1991 season.
Buller, who also owns Scarvagh House Stud in County Down in Northern Ireland, bought Salman's Newgate Stud near Dorset following Salman's death. Generous is scheduled to arrive from New Zealand in January.
