John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT) winner Better Talk Now will make his next start in the $250,000 Hollywood Turf Cup (gr. IT) on Dec. 4, trainer H. Graham Motion said Wednesday from Fair Hill, Md.

"We will work him once before he goes to Hollywood," said Motion. "He'll ship in the Wednesday before the race."

Better Talk Now, a 5-year-old gelding owned by Bushwood Racing Partners, won the $2-million Breeders' Cup Turf at Lone Star Park on Oct. 30 as the longest shot in a field of eight at 27.90-to-1 odds. He defeated odds-on favorite Kitten's Joy by 1 3/4 lengths in 2:29.70 for 1 1/2 miles on yielding turf. The Hollywood Turf Cup is also at 1 1/2 miles on turf.

Better Talk Now, who also won the grade I Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga in August, seeks to strengthen his credentials for an Eclipse Award as champion male turf horse.

"The general sense of opinion seemed to be that Kitten's Joy deserved it even though we won the Breeders' Cup against him," said Motion. "We thought winning one more grade I might sway the voters. That entered into our decision."

Motion, 40, will send out his first California starter. "This horse took me to Texas and now to California," said Motion. "I always wanted to run a horse there."

Ramon Dominguez, who rode the horse to victories in the Sword Dancer and Breeders' Cup, has the call back.

Better Talk Now would become the first Breeders' Cup winner to run in the Turf Cup since 1992 winner Fraise. He finished first but was disqualified to second for interference with Bien Bien in the 1992 Turf Cup and won the race in 1993. Miss Alleged swept the races in 1991 en route to an Eclipse Award as champion female grass horse.
