Trainer Bernie Flint is now pointing Runway Model toward the Nov. 27 Golden Rod Stakes (gr. II) at Churchill Downs. The trainer had originally planned to give the Darley Alcibiades (gr. II) winner the remainder of the year off, but said his star filly "had been tearing the barn down" since returning from the troubled third-place effort in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I).
"She's doing very good or I wouldn't even consider it," Flint said in a release from Churchill Downs. "I was not going to run her any more this year, but she's feeling so good and she' cutting up around here. I don't know -- she's just one of those kind."
Runway Model, owned by Naveed Chowhan, has had an active juvenile campaign for Flint. She launched her career April 30 with a fifth-place finish in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden race at Churchill Downs and has gone on to fashion a record of 3-2-2 in nine races with earnings of $447,050. She finished seventh to Classic Elegance in her stakes in her stakes debut in the Debutante at Churchill Downs, but bounced back with a runner-up finishes in the Bassinet at River Downs and the Arlington-Washington Lassie (gr. III) at Arlington Park.
She scored a stretch-running win in the 1 1/16-mile Alcibiades and then overcame major traffic problems in the stretch in her Breeders' Cup event.
A daughter of Petionville
, Runway Model breezed four furlongs in :48 Tuesday in preparation for the 1 1/16-mile Golden Rod.
