"Smarty Jones Winning the Preakness 2004", an original oil painting, has been donated by artist Shawn Faust to the Thoroughbred Charities of America Stallion Season and Art Auction at Candyland Farm, which will be simulcast live to Lexington's Cross Gate Gallery Dec. 4.

In addition to the Faust painting, Andre Pater, the official artist for the 2004 Breeders' Cup, has donated an equine-related drawing to the auction simulcast. His Breeders' Cup pastel, depicting horses near the gate representing many Texas racing stables, was sold for a record $175,000.

To bid on either piece you may call the auction hotline: (302) 376-6289 Nov. 30-Dec. 2, between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The highest bidder from the telephone auction will be called from one of the parties on Dec. 4, to allow the phone bidder to participate in the live bidding of the pieces.
