Musical Chimes, who was neck shy of victory behind Heat Haze in the 2003 Matriarch (gr. IT), worked six furlongs on the Hollywood Park turf Sunday for her second shot at the $500,000 test for fillies and mares at one mile on turf Nov. 28.

Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux, who had the choice of grade I stakes winners Musical Chimes and Ticker Tape, has taken the call on Musical Chimes for trainer Neil Drysdale if both run, agent Brad Pegram confirmed. Desormeaux seeks his first Matriarch victory.

Musical Chimes, a 4-year-old filly owned by Maktoum al Maktoum, won the John C. Mabee Handicap (gr. IT) at Del Mar in July and defeated males in the Oak Tree Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IIT) in October. In her most recent start, she was a troubled sixth in the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) at Lone Star Park on Oct. 30.

Expected to join Musical Chimes and Ticker Tape are the entry of Etoile Montante and Intercontinental for five-time winner Bobby Frankel, Denebola from France, New York shipper Ocean Drive, Grade I winner Island Fashion, Hoh Buzzard and Quero Quero.
