From Gulfstream Park
A P Valentine, winner of the grade 1 Champagne and a prospect for the $1 million Florida Derby March 10, breezed a half-mile in :51 at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Hialeah Park.

One of the leading future book candidates for the 2001 Kentucky Derby, the Nick Zito trainee has been absent since disappointing as the choice of the fans in the grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill November 4. The A.P. Indy colt bucked shins in that race and was pin fired shortly thereafter.

The Zito-trained Albert The Great, a leading candidate for the grade 1 Donn Handicap February 3, also worked Saturday morning at Hialeah, getting a half-mile in :47 3/5 in handy fashion.

Albert The Great's last trip to the post came in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic where he finished fourth, beaten three and a half lengths for all of it.
