Irish trainer Dermot Weld, who shipped Dress to Thrill to California to win the Matriarch (gr. IT) in 2002, plans to try his luck again with three horses in the Turf Festival at Hollywood Park.

Weld informed Hollywood Park racing secretary Martin Panza on Wednesday that he would ship Miss Mambo here for the $500,000 Matriarch for fillies and mares and Simple Exchange and Medicinal for the $500,000 Hollywood Derby. Both grade I stakes are scheduled for Nov. 28, the third and final day of the six-race Turf Festival.

Miss Mambo comes off a stakes victory in Ireland on Oct. 17 at the Matriarch distance of one mile. The 3-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Kingmambo has won four of nine starts. She finished third in the French One Thousand Guineas (Fr-I) and second in the Prix de Sandringham (Fr-II).

Simple Exchange was flown to Chicago this summer, when he won the American Derby (gr. IIT) and finished fourth in the Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT) at Arlington. Most recently, he finished sixth in a group II stake in France in October. The Moyglare Stud homebred has won three of eight outings.

Medicinal has won two of seven starts for breeder Ballylinch Stud. He won the Silver Stakes at Leopardstown in June. The Hollywood Derby will be run at 1 1/4 miles.
