Nearly $120 Million Bet on Breeders' Cup

Preliminary all-sources handle on the 12-race Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships card held Saturday at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, was $119,467,321.

These figures do not include wagering outside the United States and Canada.

Total on-track handle for the eight Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships races was $11,901,700. Total on-track handle for the 12 races at Lone Star Park was $13,326,726.

A total of $4,566,837 was wagered on the Breeders' Cup Ultra Pick 6, an increase from last year's total pool of $4,489,454. No one successfully picked 6 of 6. However, there were 61 tickets with 5 of 6 correct for a payout of $56,149.

There were two live tickets going into the final leg, the Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge. One ticket contained Roses in May, who finished second and Pleasantly Perfect, who finished third. Had either of those horses won the Classic, the individual would have received $3.4 million.
