Southern California horsemen will be allocated stalls based on a list of criteria that includes performance during individual meets and year-round totals, according to an agreement reached between officials of the region's three major tracks.

Under the agreement, the track conducting the live race meet in Southern California will also control stall allocations at the non-host (dark) tracks. The statement noted that increased scrutiny of stall allocations is one step being taken to try to improve field sizes in Southern California.

The agreement was reached following meetings that included Santa Anita Park president F. Jack Liebau, Hollywood Park president Rick Baedeker, and Del Mar Thoroughbred Club executive vice president Craig Fravel.
