Pleasantly Perfect, seeking to defend his title in the Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered (gr. I) worked seven furlongs in company Saturday on a "good" track in a bullet 1:23 4/5 under Crystal Brown.

Workmates Noches de Rosa and Sanfran were clocked in 1:28 and 1:30, respectively.

"I couldn't be more impressed," trainer Richard Mandella said. "Like I've said before, he couldn't be doing any better. Noches de Rosa didn't handle the mud very well. Of course, she's a turf mare," Mandella said in explaining the great disparity in the times. "Sanfran is just feed for Pleasantly Perfect."

Both are owned by the Diamond A Racing Corp. of Texan Gerald Ford. Mandella was scheduled to leave California at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and arrive at Lone Star Park in advance of Pleasantly Perfect, who is booked to leave at 5 a.m. Monday.
