Edited from Keeneland reportsTrainer Paul McGee sent 3rd Turn Stable's NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) hopeful Honor in War out for a leg-stretcher on a misty Thursday morning at Keeneland. The son of Lord at War breezed an easy five-eighths around the dogs, over the soft turf course in 1:04 4/5 under jockey Calvin Borel.
"I thought he breezed really good," McGee said. "It was nothing flashy but I think he got something out of it. I caught him the last quarter in :24 flat. He came back great and scoped good."
With the Mile oversubscribed with 19 horses entered (four were pre-entered in other races, with the Mile second preference for three of them), Honor in War is the third-ranked horse in order of also-eligiible preference to get into the Mile should any defections occur.
A grade I winner of seven of 22 lifetime starts with earnings of $886,326, Honor in War was runner-up to Nothing to Lose in Keeneland's Shadwell Turf Mile (gr. IT) in his last start.
Honor in War is scheduled to ship to Texas next Tuesday, Oct. 26.
