Sarava, who upended the Triple Crown bid of War Emblem by winning the 2002 Belmont Stakes (gr. I), will enter stud at John Sykes' Cloverleaf Farms II near Reddick, Fla.
Sarava's score in the 134th Belmont not only came over War Emblem, but also over such accomplished runners as Medaglia d'Oro, Proud Citizen, and Perfect Drift.
One of 84 stakes winners sired by recently pensioned Wild Again, Sarava won three of 17 races and earned $773,832. One of those wins came in the Sir Barton Stakes on the way to the Belmont Stakes. Sarava was retired in late September after re-aggravating a suspensory injury.
Sarava is out of Rhythm of Life (by Deputy Minister) and his next two dams are both stakes winners and stakes producers, with millionaire and Canadian champion Wilderness Song an offspring of second dam Nalee's Rhythm. Sarava will stand for $5,000 live foal as the property of Gary Drake and Susan Roy.
