Domestic Dispute to Get a Shot at BC Classic
The 4-year-old son of Unbridled's Song most recently finished seventh in the Oct. 2 Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) at Belmont Park in what his trainer described as a very uncharacteristic performance from the chestnut colt, who is owned by the partnership of Chuck Winner, Paul Mandabach and David Bienstock. "I don't know what happened," Gallagher said of the Gold Cup. "I don't know if it was the track or what because he was training great going into the race and came out of it in great shape. It was very disappointing. He did everything right there, he schooled great, so I don't know. But at the moment, the answer (to running in the Breeders' Cup) is yes." Domestic Dispute, who is scheduled to take up stallion duty at the end of the year at Northview Stallion Station in Maryland, has banked $703,115 from a career line of 20-3-4-2. He won the Santa Catalina Stakes (gr. II) last year and has placed in five other black-type events. Gallagher said he'll send the horse to Texas about 10 days before the race so he can get his final preparations in over the Lone Star track. |
