Trainer Julio Canani's Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championship-bound duo of Special Ring and Sweet Catomine both worked at Santa Anita on Wednesday morning.

Under regular exercise rider Jose Dominguez, Prestonwood Farm's Special Ring went five furlongs in 1:00 over the main track preparing for the NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT). The 7-year-old gelded son of Nuryev, who finished eighth in the Breeders' Cup last year, hasn't raced since winning the July 25 Eddie Read Handicap (gr. IT) at Del Mar.

"He worked so good," Canani said. "I got him in :59 and three. He did it so easily."

Special Ring, who also won the 2003 renewal of the Eddie Read, has won 10 of 26 starts overall, with four seconds and three thirds, for earnings of $915,023.

Grade I winner Sweet Catomine, California's leading contender for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), also had Dominguez aboard for her work on Wednesday and the pair breezed a half-mile in :48 over the main track. The bay filly won the Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. II) and Del Mar Debutante (gr. I) in her last two starts.

"It was awesome," Canani said of the Mr. and Mrs. Marty Wygod color-bearer. "She doesn't do anything like a 2-year-old. Even Bob Baffert said, 'That's not a 2-year-old.'"

According to Canani, both Special Ring and Sweet Catomine will have two more works in California before shipping to Texas on Oct. 25.

Also prepping for the World Thoroughbred Championships on Wednesday was Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) hopeful Boston Glory, who went five furlongs in :49 4/5. The chestnut son of Boston Harbor will be pre-entered on Monday at which time a decision will be made by owner Diane Rochelle and trainer Eoin Harty whether to make the trip to Lone Star Park.
