Rossini, a half-brother to leading sire Elusive Quality, has been purchased by Sheikh Mohammed and will stand the 2005 season at Darley at Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky. His fee has not been set.
A 7-year-old son of Miswaki
, Rossini was produced from Touch of Greatness, the dam of Elusive Quality, the sire of this year's dual classic winner Smarty Jones who stands at Gainsborough Stud.
Rossini, who previously stood at Ballyhane Stud in Ireland, is the sire of 10 winners from his first crop to race, including group III winners Tournedos and Golden Legacy.
"Rossini is proving to have the same immense sire power that has so distinguished his brother," said Dan Pride, head of stallion nominations for Darley America. "It's great to have both horses on the same roster. Just like Elusive Quality, Rossini is upgrading his mares, and it is to his credit that he has achieved so much so soon.
Rossini won three of seven starts, including the Prix Robert Papin (Fr-II) and the Anglesey Stakes (Ire-III).
