Southern Image Being Pointed for 2005 Campaign

Millionaire Southern Image, one of racing's leaders the first part of the year, will be pointed toward a 2005 campaign."There have been offers to buy (for stallion duty), but there hasn't been an agreement on any of the deals," said trainer Mike Machowsky.Southern Image, who scored grade I wins in this year's Santa Anita (gr. I) and Pimlico Special (gr. I) Handicaps, hasn't raced since finishing a nose back in the June 12 Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) at Churchill Downs. He missed the Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I) in July because of a foot injury.Southern Image had won four consecutive stakes going into the Stephen Foster. He started off with a score in the Malibu Stakes (gr. I) in December, then took the Barretts/CTBA Classic Stakes before the Santa Anita and Pimlico Special Handicaps.A 4-year-old son of Halo's Image out of the Dixieland Band mare Pleasant Dixie, Southern Image is owned by Blahut Stables, Kagele Brothers, and Allen and Josh Tepper.
