Improved Solis Expects Return in 3-5 Months Alex Solis hopes to resume riding in three to five months, he said Wednesday. The 40-yearold Solis suffered a broken vertebra, broken ribs and a punctured lung in a spill July 23 at Del Mar. He had a rod inserted into his spinal column to support the vertebra. The Panama native recently had a cumbersome neck brace removed. "The brace is off and I'll get an MRI on the 25th of October and we'll go from there," he said during a visit to Clockers' Corner. "I'm doing a lot of walking and I'm stretching the muscles where the incision was (under his shoulder area) to break the soft tissue and make sure they get loose and get some blood flowing there. "The accident occurred on the third day of the Del Mar meet so I had the whole summer to spend with the kids on the beach. It could have been worse. You've got to look at the bright side. The doctors say it's more than likely I'll be back between December to February because everybody heals differently." |
