Royal Cat Colt Tops CTBA Yearling Sale

A colt from the first crop of Royal Cat, a winning son of Storm Cat, was purchased by trainer Jeff Bonde for $47,000 to top Tuesday's Northern California Yearling Sale conducted by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Sales.Consigned by John Anderson, agent for SLU Inc., the colt was produced from the stakes-winning Wajima mare Tiza, who has produced stakes winner Bold Mango.The sale, conducted at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, Calif., resulted in 130 yearlings selling for a total $893,600, an average price of $6,874 and a median of $4,350. There were 41 head that did not sell.A colt by Bertrando out of the Miswaki mare Dual Agent brought the second-highest price, $37,000. He is a full brother to stakes winner Two on the Aisle and a half-brother to stakes winner Get Smart. He was consigned by River Edge Farm and purchased by Curt and Lila Lanning. The highest price paid for a filly was $28,000 for a daughter of Mr Purple, out of the Bold Ruckus mare Ruckus Ridge, was consigned by Green Acres Stables and purchased by Richard Franco.
