Ridden to victory by Chad Hoverson for trainer David Forster and breeder/owner Janis Whitham, the daughter of Summer Squall completed the 1 1/8-mile event in 1:51. Socorro County, also trained by Forster as part of the 2-5 favored entry, finished 2 3/4 lengths in front of third-place finisher See Me Through.

Stalking the leaders while seventh after six furlongs, Summer Symphony rallied from between horses on the far turn, gaining the lead from pacesetter See Me Through inside the eighth pole and outrunning a game Socorro County in the run for wire.

See Me Through set a moderate pace of :23 1/5, :47 2/5, 1:12 1/5 and 1:37 4/5 before giving way.

Summer Symphony, a Kentucky-bred chestnut out of the Mining mare Second Symphony, won for the third time in 12 starts. She has earned $154,284.
