Little Change in Illinois 2005 Thoroughbred Schedule

The Illinois Racing Board has approved a 2005 Chicagoland Thoroughbred racing schedule that resembles this year's slate.
The National Jockey Club at Hawthorne Race Course will hold a 54-day spring meet from Feb. 24-May 10. Arlington Park will offer a 94-day session from May 11-Sept. 22. Hawthorne will end the season with a 73-day meet from Sept. 23-Dec. 31.
Hawthorne will again offer Standardbred racing, but it won't have the summer all to itself. The IRB approved a schedule whereby Hawthorne would race four days of the week, Balmoral Park three days, and Maywood Park one day.
