Olympio Mare Tops Thursday Keeneland Session

A 5-year-old stakes winning mare who was being sold as a broodmare prospect brought a top price of $120,000 during Thursday's session of Keeneland's January Horses of All Ages Sale.

Eric Puerari bought Carlitta, winner of the Remington Park Oaks and more than $109,000 during her racing career. Mill Ridge Sales, as agent, sold the chestnut mare by Olympio out of Creamery, by Secretariat.

Ben P. Walden, Jr. paid the second highest price of the day, $110,000, for a 9-year-old broodmare who is pregnant to Stormin Fever. Lane's End, agent, sold Divorce Testimony, who is by Vice Regent out of Angelic Song.

During Thursday's session, Keeneland sold 206 horses for $3,062,700. The average was $14,867 and the median was $7,500. Through four days of the six-day auction, 834 horses have been sold for $36,096,900, an average of $43,282.

The sale in Lexington, Ky. continues at 10:00 a.m. daily through Saturday.
